While the cycling pros kicked off the 2020 edition of the Tour de France in Nice, H.Essers employees from around the world, from Belgium to Romania, teamed up to ride their own Tour. Another big hit, as a part of the long-term Fit2Grow project, which aims to motivate employees to work on their health and mental well-being together with their colleagues.
Connected by a common goal
Parallel to the starting shot of the official Tour, teams of up to 15 employees, started their own Tour challenge. They covered the same number of kilometres as the riders in the Tour every day as a team. Teams were made across departments, allowing colleagues to stay connected in a time when many had to work from home.
“We’ve created healthy competition between the different teams, and within the teams themselves. Employees went cycling multiple times a week in order to reach the kilometre goal. They were more than willing to free up time for it and we noticed they took their bike more to commute. The challenge lived within the company and generated a lot of enthusiasm.” This way, the challenge leads to a better atmosphere in the workplace.
H.Essers, in cooperation with Energy Lab, motivates and encourages employees to live healthier, through sports, better nutrition and a better state of mind.
“We believe in Energy Lab’s vision that sportier employees perform better, are less ill and are happier at work. We not only invest in the future of our company, but also in the future and the well-being of our employees”, says H.Essers CEO Gert Bervoets.
Even during COVID-19, the Fit2Grow platform continues to grow. The pandemic even offered H.Essers the opportunity to launch additional (digital) challenges and initiatives to familiarise its employees with telework and how to stay fit at home.
